DiCon Presents: Maps, Data Visualizations and Accessible Design!
DICON or Digital Inclusion Conference is organized by the City of New York, our sponsors and community partners. Our mission is to educate digital professionals on accessibility and inclusion.
This year DiCon is brought to you by the NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, NYC Department of Information Technology and Telecommunication and Disability Unite!
In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), DiCon invites you to a presentation on maps, data visualizations and accessible design. Attendees will learn about:
- Intro to digital accessibility and the WCAG standard
- Designing using an accessibility first approach
- Considering the needs of various users in your design and UX
- Concepts and features to make your maps and data visualizations more accessible
- Live screen reader demonstrations of accessible examples
- The value of testing your products with the disability community

Accessibility Info
This online event will be held on Zoom and the Disability Unite website which are both accessible platforms. For Deaf and hard of hearing access, there will be American Sign Language Interpreting and human captions. For blind access, presenters will include image descriptions for visual content.
