An emergency is anything that may put New Yorkers in danger, or may be perceived to put New Yorkers in danger.
The Mayor’s Office decides whether something is an emergency and how to respond. They may call to pause all outbound social posts, or mandate certain messaging to inform all City account followers of critical information.
If you’re responsible for your agency’s social media, you’ll be contacted and instructed on proper actions in the case of an emergency.
